In-N-Out Burger Plans Expansion Amidst Commitment to Quality

Lynsi Snyder, CEO of In-N-Out Burger, shared insights about the potential expansion of the famous California-based fast-food chain. Snyder mentioned Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma as states that might welcome new In-N-Out locations soon. Her grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, co-founded the chain in 1948.

In a discussion with Terry Crews, Snyder emphasized the brand’s reluctance to grow too rapidly, stating that quality is always prioritized over quantity at In-N-Out Burger.

Snyder remarked, “I just want to make sure that everything is right and that our In-N-Out family is strong, and we’re retaining all those values.” She praised the chain’s cleanliness, quality, and friendly service.

The interview revealed growth intentions across a few states but stressed the importance of maintaining the chain’s core values. Snyder expressed concern that any deviation from their foundational principles could alter the growth strategy significantly.

In-N-Out is known for its commitment to food quality, delivering fresh ingredients to each restaurant. The company’s website mentions, “In fact, we don’t even own a microwave or freezer.” Burgers are prepared using fresh beef from patty-making facilities in California and Texas.

The chain’s humble beginnings trace back to 1948, when Harry and Esther Snyder opened a 100-square-foot burger stand in Baldwin Park, Los Angeles. This location was notable for being California’s first drive-thru, utilizing a two-way speaker system pioneered by Harry Snyder.

Recent expansions include the opening of In-N-Out’s first Washington state restaurant in August 2025 and Tennessee’s first location on December 10 of the previous year. The latter was the chain’s easternmost presence at the time. Currently, Tennessee hosts five In-N-Out stores, with a sixth location planned.

The company maintains its Southern California heritage, as Snyder noted, “This is where we started, it’s where we are now and it’s where we’ll always be.” Even as the company looks into new territories, such as New Mexico in 2027, the brand remains deeply intertwined with its roots.

Snyder also expressed contentment with the chain’s selective growth, noting, “I feel like there’s a special peace knowing that In-N-Out isn’t everywhere.” She hinted at the possibilities with Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma.

In-N-Out continues to thrive with a total of 299 California locations, showing no sign of departing from its origin. Snyder reiterated the significance of California in the brand’s identity.
