Conservative Activist Speaks Out After Violent Encounter at University

Lizzy Benichou, a conservative Jewish activist, publicly addressed a violent incident during a debate at the University of Michigan. She stated her resolve not to let the attack silence her. Benichou told Fox & Friends that the attack would not deter her efforts.

During an open debate hosted on the Ann Arbor campus, Benichou described how a woman approached the group, started shouting, and allegedly struck conservative influencer Joe Redden in the face with her phone. The assailant then targeted Benichou.

30% of college students say violence is an acceptable way to stop speakers on campuses, a survey finds.

Reflecting on the incident, Benichou explained she told the woman that such behavior would not be possible in Iran, highlighting restrictions on free speech in the country. This statement was part of a broader discussion about women’s freedoms in Iran.

Fellow conservative influencer Cam Higby echoed these sentiments, commenting on how the assailant’s attire would be unacceptable in Iran.

Benichou recalled asking nearby Jordanian students for their opinion on her comments when the confrontation escalated, resulting in her being shoved to the ground. She reported feeling sore from the fall.

This incident takes place amid heightened political and cultural tensions in Michigan, particularly as the Senate race heats up ahead of the midterm elections. Benichou’s campus visit aimed to discuss concerns about Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s political views and campaign funding.
