Professional wrestling presents a challenging lifestyle, especially for those aspiring to become top stars. Balancing this with film and TV aspirations can lead to a chaotic travel schedule. Independent pro wrestler Vinny Pacifico has managed to navigate these waters successfully. Based in Staten Island, New York, he has made a name for himself both in the wrestling ring and on the screen. He will soon add ‘I Dream of Pizza’ to his list of film accomplishments.
‘I Dream of Pizza,’ directed by Matt Provenzano, follows a pizza-making talent from Italy who relocates to New York City, where his pizza shop is overrun by an Italian crime family. The cast includes Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Michael Leavy, Giorgio Cantarini, and Vic Dibitetto.
Vinny Pacifico shared how his wrestling skills have helped his acting career. When approached for ‘I Dream of Pizza,’ he jumped at the chance. Describing the project as a mix of ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘Ratatouille,’ he expressed his excitement about participating due to his fondness for the latter. The film, largely set in New York and Italy, promises a story filled with twists and turns, featuring a blend of humor and drama. Additional casting surprises are anticipated.
Pacifico feels fortunate to balance both wrestling and acting. He frequently travels between Coastal Championship Wrestling in Florida and Hollywood Wrestling while planning to stay active in both fields. Despite the physical demands, Pacifico intends to keep wrestling for years. He stressed the importance of maintaining physical well-being through therapies and healthcare to endure wrestling into his later years.
“I want to continue wrestling and acting indefinitely,” Pacifico stated, emphasizing the need for maintaining peak physical condition.
His commitment involves rigorous self-care, particularly given the travel demands. Flights and the physicality of wrestling pose challenges. Pacifico advocates for regular massages, acupuncture, and other care routines to sustain his body.
Pacifico has built his reputation on the independent circuit while meeting notable figures such as Richard Holliday and Effy, who have impressed him with their potential for on-screen roles. He has ideas for Effy’s involvement in film, appreciating his talents beyond wrestling.
Currently, ‘I Dream of Pizza’ remains in pre-production, but Pacifico fans can enjoy his performances in ‘Mr. Reset and the Society of Turnbuckle & Bone’ and ‘Between the Living and the Dead.’
