Democrats Poised for Early Gain in 2026 Midterms with Guam Delegate Race

Democrats may soon achieve an early symbolic victory in the 2026 midterm elections. Unofficial results from Guam show Democrat Alicia Anne Garrido Limtiaco with a slight lead over Republican incumbent James Moylan. They are vying for the territory’s non-voting U.S. House delegate seat.

Limtiaco, a former Guam attorney general, garnered 15,645 votes, which represents 51 percent of the vote. Moylan, in contrast, received 14,983 votes, accounting for 48.84 percent. This gives Limtiaco an advantage of 662 votes, based on the latest figures released by the Guam Election Commission.

It’s important to note that this seat does not contribute to the 218 seats required for a majority in the House. The vote count is not complete, as some ballots remain unprocessed. Certification by the Guam Election Commission is pending.

Guam’s early election results exhibit a divided political landscape. Republican Vicente “Tony” Ada leads in the governor’s race with 15,945 votes (51.45 percent), while Democrat Therese Terlaje has 14,925 votes, which is 48.15 percent.
