Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer celebrated the Democrats’ success in the midterm elections with a humorous nod to a past social media moment. On Wednesday morning, he shared a photo on Instagram featuring himself beside a smoking propane grill, filled with burgers and hot dogs. Each grill item bore the faces of Republicans who lost their races, including those of President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, depicted in a meme style.
The New York Senator captioned the photo, “54 seats and counting. And I learned how to grill…these burgers and dogs are finally cooked.” The post is a playful reference to a previous image that became a viral hit. On Father’s Day in 2024, Schumer posted a photo of himself grilling raw patties, with one already topped with a slice of cheese. The picture was met with widespread online ridicule, prompting Schumer to delete it.
Schumer’s latest post serves as both a celebration of Democratic victories and a tongue-in-cheek response to past social media experiences. It signals a moment of light-heartedness amid the serious political gains made during the midterms.
