All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is organizing a significant edition of ‘Dynamite’ to support wrestler Tanea Brooks, known as Rebel, in her battle against ALS. The event, titled “Rebel Heart,” will be held at the Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia.
Since Brooks announced her diagnosis in May, AEW and the professional wrestling community have shown unwavering support. Many stars have worn ‘Rebel Heart’ T-shirts and participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds and awareness.
AEW and Ring of Honor (ROH) owner Tony Khan commented, “Rebel’s been a great friend to all of us and a great part of AEW from the very beginning. Even though she’s not on TV every week, we all care for her deeply.”
Brooks disclosed her ALS diagnosis on May 1. She shared, “The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS. There isn’t a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have. But it explains why I have trouble walking and talking. I want to say thank you for the support.”
Brooks joined AEW in 2019, initially working backstage before appearing on screen in 2020. Her career began with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2013, and she has since appeared in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Stardom, and briefly in WWE.
The ‘Rebel Heart’ card is promising an action-packed night with matches like:
- Will Ospreay vs. David Finlay in an AEW World Championship elimination match
- Darby Allin and Steven Borden vs. Mark Davis and Josh Alexander in a tag team match
- AEW World Trios Championship: Swerve Strickland, Kofi, and Austin Creed vs. Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reily, and Roderick Strong
- Women’s trios match featuring Maya World, Hyan, and Thunder Rosa vs. Persephone, Baker, and Hikaru Shida
- Young Bucks vs. Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight in a tables match
Fans can also expect to see Brooks with Britt Baker in a segment called “The Waiting Room.” Persephone and Shida are also anticipated to make an appearance.
