Guitarist Nita Strauss and her husband Josh Villalta have welcomed their first child. The couple announced the birth of their son, Maxwell James Villalta, who was born on May 28. Strauss and Villalta shared the joyful news with People magazine and on their social media platforms.
Nita Strauss expressed the profound experience of new parenthood in the publication, stating, “We’re in the full-on newborn trenches: exhausted, running on fumes and figuring new parenthood out as we go, and it’s still been the most fulfilling and incredible time of our lives.” She added that motherhood, even after just a few days, has been the best experience she has had.
The couple chose the name Maxwell with the hope that “whatever he does in his life, we hope he does it to the max,” according to Josh Villalta. The middle name, James, honors Nita’s father, musician James Strauss.
In the interview, Strauss reflected on the challenges and joys of childbirth, describing it as “the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” but also an amazing experience. “I’ve always heard people say ‘You don’t know true love until they put your baby on your chest for the first time,’ but I never fully understood it until it happened to me,” she revealed.
Looking forward to motherhood, Strauss shared her enthusiasm for bringing Maxwell on tour. She remarked on the exciting journey ahead, “It’s going to be amazing, chaotic, and exciting and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Currently on maternity leave, Strauss is being replaced on tour by Anna Cara, a 22-year-old guitarist. Having interviewed Strauss many times, she is known for her delightful personality and is expected to embrace her new role as a mother with enthusiasm.
