Allegations Against U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle

Businessman Eric Deters has accused U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, of unethical behavior. Deters claimed that Guilfoyle, former fiancee of Donald Trump Jr., requested $100,000 to settle her American Express bill. This was purportedly in exchange for her assistance with the Trump administration.

In an interview with CBS News, Deters expressed that Guilfoyle should lose her ambassadorship due to her alleged actions. Text messages backing his claims appeared in the Wall Street Journal. “It was quid pro quo,” Deters stated to CBS News White House correspondent Weijia Jiang. Despite the allegations, Deters admitted he did not send the money.

“Unfortunately for Kimberly Guilfoyle, at that time, I didn’t have $100,000 to spare,” Deters commented.

Deters fabricated an excuse regarding his wife’s dissent. According to CBS News sources familiar with the issue, White House officials verified the authenticity of the text exchanges.

The Wall Street Journal disclosed that Guilfoyle contacted Deters just days before her Senate confirmation hearing to request the funds secretly. She suggested wiring money to American Express to keep the payment private. The confirmation hearing took place on July 9.

Deters provided CBS News with a 292-page file, including grievances against Trump world figures, communications with Guilfoyle, and photos with key people like President Trump. In the file, Deters included texts from Guilfoyle, including a PDF of American Express instructions.

Eric Deters, previously a lawyer and businessman from Kentucky, faced sanctions by the Ohio Supreme Court in 2021 for unauthorized practice of law. He also made unsuccessful bids for Kentucky governor and a U.S. House seat. Despite his Trump ties, Deters hadn’t received the media attention or political support for extraditing Dr. Abubakar Durrani, who fled the U.S. amid healthcare fraud allegations.

Said Deters: “I sent Susie Wiles, Don Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle an email, telling them to assist with the Durrani case by 5 o’clock on Monday.” He warned them he would approach the media for help if they didn’t respond.

Documents show Deters also reached out to Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle’s podcast producer. He insinuated financial gains for anyone participating in furthering the cause against Durrani.

After breaking off her engagement with Trump Jr., Guilfoyle’s influence diminished.

“The problem was, she was on the outs of the Trump world,” Deters remarked.

Deters recounted Guilfoyle’s unease over written communications and her preference for conversations on Signal. In June 2025, she texted: “Eric, I really wish you would stop papering these things.”

Deters had once offered Guilfoyle a substantial financial reward, outlining grievances about her unfulfilled promises, such as booking him on Tucker Carlson’s podcast.

Guilfoyle refuted Deters’ claims as “completely false” and submitted a PDF letter, which she said demonstrated her attention to his tax issue.

Deters claimed to have compensated Guilfoyle extensively, having paid $300,000 in appearance fees, and made significant payments to others in the Trump circle.

Amid these claims, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was questioned while in Greece. He reproached reporters for believing the initial reports without confirmation, declining to comment further until more information was available.

Vice President JD Vance, addressed about the propriety of the accusations, preferred to abstain from commenting without more details.

Deters remains intent on sharing his narrative, aiming to bring awareness to Dr. Durrani’s victims and to challenge Guilfoyle’s position.

“I’m a tough hombre,” Deters stated. “I’m going to take Kimberly Guilfoyle’s deposition.”
