Ariana Grande’s Impressive Chart Streak
Ariana Grande’s latest single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” marks her 10th number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100. This is her eighth track to debut at the top. The single continues her streak where the first song from each of her albums lands in the Hot 10. Her new album, Petal, will release on July 31.
The song’s success is driven by 55,000 digital downloads of its varied mixes. Max Martin, who co-wrote and produced the track, has an extensive record of number-one singles. His impact started with Britney Spears’ “. . .Baby One More Time” in 1999. Martin has produced 28 number-one hits, more than any other producer. As a songwriter, he trails just behind Paul McCartney’s 32 with his 30 number-one singles.

Billboard Hot 100 Analysis
As expected, the Hot 100 charts showcase Ariana Grande at number one while Drake’s tracks shift downward. Ella Langley holds three spots in the top 10. Olivia Dean and Olivia Rodrigo also have songs placed in the top 15.
Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” is anticipated to challenge Grande’s reign with its June 5 release.
Michael Jackson’s Chart Resurgence
The late Michael Jackson’s music, fueled by the release of the biopic Michael, has resurged on the charts. A notable entry is “Chicago,” from the 2014 album Xscape. Originally recorded in 1999, it now appears at number 26, boosted by streaming and TikTok success.
Jackson becomes the first artist to debut a song on the Hot 100 in every decade from the 1970s onwards.
