Police in Arizona discovered the remains of two individuals in a backyard on Thursday. This was part of an investigation into a missing father and mother, with their son, Matthew Flores, suspected of fleeing the country, according to the police.
Initially, Matthew Flores, 27, was included in a missing persons report filed by worried family members on Tuesday. Officer Daniel Benavidez, spokesperson for Avondale police, shared this information. The police, conducting a welfare check at a home in Litchfield Park, found signs of foul play.
Officer Benavidez noted, “We identified a large amount of blood and evidence indicating an attempt to conceal the blood, leading us to suspect foul play.” The discovery of human remains in the backyard had not been confirmed by Thursday afternoon. Phoenix police homicide unit was assisting in the recovery process at the time of the announcement.
Family members had contacted the police on Tuesday, expecting the mother, father, and their adult son to be at the residence where the remains were later uncovered. The names of the parents have not been released at the family’s request, and the bodies were in a state of decomposition. The duration of their presence in the backyard remains unknown.
The investigation had labeled Flores as a suspect by Thursday. The police are actively searching for Flores and reportedly have leads in the case. They have urged anyone with information about Flores or his whereabouts to contact the department.
When asked about the country to which Flores might have fled, Benavidez said, “All I can say is that he fled the country.”
