Austin Authorities Capture Suspects in Weekend Shooting Spree

Shelter-In-Place Order Lifted in South Austin

Authorities have lifted the shelter-in-place order in south Austin, Texas. Two suspects involved in random shootings have been caught. However, one suspect remains at large in the Manor area. Residents are advised to stay alert.

Shootings Across South Austin

The incidents occurred from late Saturday into Sunday. Mayor Kirk Watson noted multiple shootings throughout the area, including two fire stations. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis confirmed these shootings appear random, with investigators still seeking a motive.

Suspects in Custody

By Sunday evening, both suspects were apprehended. One had a warrant for stealing a gun from a store, and the pair had stolen four vehicles during their spree. The suspects fired on apartment buildings and fire stations, causing damage to a fire truck.

Public Cooperation

Kirk and Davis thanked the public for their cooperation and encouraged residents to share any information about the events. The identities of the suspects remain undisclosed, but police search for a third individual.

Details on Suspects

Police are looking for two Hispanic males in their late teens. The suspects were described as having medium wavy hair and longer hair. Authorities also identified three vehicles— a black Honda Accord, gold Honda, and white Nissan Altima— linked to the shootings.

Shooting Victims

Four individuals were shot during the spree. One person faces life-threatening injuries, while the other three have non-life-threatening wounds. Details about the victims, including whether they worked at the fire stations, remain unclear.

Affected Neighborhoods

The shelter-in-place order covered large areas of south Austin from Skyline Park to Dick Nicholas District Park. While the order is lifted, residents in Manor should remain vigilant.

Recommendations for Residents

Chief Davis urged residents to contact 911 with any suspicious activity and advised against approaching the suspected vehicles. Residents should ensure their vehicles are secured and keys are not left inside.

The investigation continues, with further updates expected.
