Authorities in South Carolina announced that the body found earlier this week belongs to Elena Moore, who disappeared on June 11. Elena Moore, aged 39, was last seen leaving a gym in Lexington, a city with a population of around 23,000, located west of Columbia.
The cause and manner of her death have not been disclosed yet. However, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for Saturday. They plan to release more information on Monday.
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green revealed that the identification of Moore’s body was initially based on her clothing. The tip leading to the discovery came from the news coverage of her disappearance.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is conducting the investigation into her death. At this time, Police Chief Green has not confirmed if there is any suspicion of foul play. A spokesperson from the department did not comment on Friday night.
