Boston Judge Blocks Trump Visa Fee, New Expedited Service Announced

Judge Halts Trump’s H-1B Visa Fee

A federal judge in Boston has blocked the Trump administration’s plan to impose a $100,000 fee for H-1B visa applicants, finding that it constitutes an unconstitutional tax implemented without congressional approval.

Fox News correspondent David Spunt covered the ruling during the ‘Special Report’ segment.

State Department Launches Expedited Visa Service

The State Department is introducing a new service allowing foreign business and tourist visa applicants to expedite their interview appointments within 10 days at select embassies and consulates in the U.S. This service, termed “premium,” comes with an additional fee of $750.

The pilot program will run from July 1 to December 31, according to a notice published in the Federal Register. Depending on demand, it may be extended. Applicants will pay the $750 fee in addition to the standard $185 visa application fee.

The embassies and consulates participating are expected to be announced prior to July 1.

Visa Processing Changes

Amid changes under the Trump administration, visa screening and compliance rules have seen significant adjustments. New requirements include bonds up to $15,000 for visa processing from countries with high overstay rates, as well as extensive personal history disclosures.

These measures have contributed to increased delays in visa processing globally.

Expedited Service Details

The expedited service fee does not ensure a visa will be issued but aims to reduce waiting times for interview slots. This service primarily targets applicants from countries not included in the Visa Waiver Program, where interview wait times can span several months.
