Brandi Glanville, aged 53, recently shared her worries about potentially acquiring a ‘sexually transmitted ringworm’ affecting her throat. This revelation came during a conversation with former adult film star Lisa Ann on the podcast ‘Brandi Glanville Unfiltered.’
The ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star suspects the infection emerged during her relationship with someone from the adult industry. According to Lisa Ann, such infections are common in the industry, and many people remain unaware of what to seek out when diagnosing these conditions. Lisa Ann explained the importance of makeup artists checking new talent in proper lighting for any visible patches, as the infection spreads easily.
The Mayo Clinic cites ringworm as a frequent and highly contagious fungal infection impacting the skin, hair, or nails, although it is not due to an actual worm. Initially, Glanville believed she had a throat infection until a friend informed her of this condition. Despite going through numerous tests with unclear results, concerns persisted.
Glanville explained, ‘You see them when it’s on the outside of your skin, but they can burrow in. If it’s in your throat, they can burrow deep into your ears and all that.’ Her partner’s involvement in wrestling could have been a factor in the transmission of the infection to her.
Brandi Glanville had previously reported an issue after traveling to Morocco in 2023, leading to facial paralysis. Initially diagnosed with stress-induced angioedema, she suspected a parasite was responsible. The Mayo Clinic describes angioedema as similar to hives, affecting deeper skin layers. Despite worsening symptoms, Glanville was doubtful angioedema was the primary issue and prioritized her health to find answers.
In February, she discovered that her long-standing medical issues were caused by ruptured breast implants that had been in place for 20 years. Before identifying this cause, Glanville spent over $70,000 in search of a resolution to her health problems, which significantly affected her appearance and daily life.
