The Cleveland Browns made headlines in the NFL by trading Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, recently broke the league’s single-season sack record.
The trade enhances an already strong Rams team, while the Browns must now adapt without Garrett for the first time since 2016. Despite signing a four-year, $160 million extension last year, Garrett had previously asked for a trade.

The Browns received Jared Verse, a first-round pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, and a third-round pick in 2029 in return. Browns GM Andrew Berry described the offer as “too great” to refuse.
Andrew Berry stated, “Myles Garrett is a foundational player, Hall of Fame-worthy, and a homegrown talent who’s been here for a decade.”
Berry acknowledged the unexpected opportunity this trade presented. Despite Garrett’s impressive record, the Browns decided the trade would benefit the team.
Garrett recorded 23 sacks last season, earning his second Defensive Player of the Year award. He has achieved double-digit sacks in the past eight seasons and at least 14.0 sacks in five consecutive seasons.
The Rams have further solidified their roster by extending Matthew Stafford’s contract and drafting Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick. Cleveland, after picking tackle Spencer Fano and wide receiver K.C. Concepcion in the recent draft, now holds two first-round picks for next year.

Jared Verse, now joining the Browns, has been a Pro Bowler twice with 12.0 sacks and 22 tackles for loss in the past two seasons.
