Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark took on the prestigious role of grand marshal at the Indianapolis 500, bringing her own touch to the iconic event. As she participated in the race activities, the Fever shared various clips of her presence at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In one clip, Clark showcased the large number of fans eager to see the WNBA superstar. During her grand marshal duties, she announced for drivers to prepare for the race.
Clark expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “I’m honored to represent Gainbridge as Grand Marshal of the Indy 500. I’m looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
This role has seen many notable figures step into it before Clark, including Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Blake Shelton. According to J. Douglas Boles, president of IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, “Since being drafted by the Fever, fans have been eager to share the epic celebration and thrilling excitement of Indy 500 Race Day with Caitlin. Through our incredible partnership with Gainbridge, everyone joining us for the world’s largest single-day spectator sporting event will get to do just that. Caitlin will bring unique energy and presence to a quintessentially Hoosier experience and an absolutely bucket list global sporting spectacle.”
Clark remains a leading figure in the WNBA, aiming to navigate the Fever back to playoff contention. Although she missed a game earlier in the week due to injury, she returned impressively against the Golden State Valkyries, contributing 22 points and nine assists to secure a 90-82 victory.
