A California man’s alleged drug operation came to an abrupt halt when he inadvertently left a backpack containing a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine in a rideshare vehicle. This incident led to his arrest, as detailed in an announcement from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD).
On a Sunday afternoon, a rideshare driver alerted police after discovering approximately three-quarters of a pound of suspected meth in the vehicle. This amount is valued at over $30,000, based on typical pricing estimates provided by Recovered, an addiction treatment directory. The drugs were found hidden in a bag left behind by a passenger.
SFPD reported the recovery of 355.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine on July 12, 2026. They shared that the suspect, identified as Jessie Ottman-Comb, a 41-year-old resident of Sacramento, had departed the vehicle near San Francisco’s Tenderloin area, a location notorious for drug-related activities and crime.
Following collaboration with the rideshare driver, officers arranged to return the backpack to its rightful owner. This strategy led them to a motel where Ottman-Comb was staying. During a subsequent search, police uncovered two cellphones, two tablets, and drug-related paraphernalia. All these items, along with the suspected methamphetamine from the rideshare, were confiscated as evidence.
Jessie Ottman-Comb has been booked into the San Francisco County Jail. Charges against him include possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and transportation or sale of methamphetamine. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
