Chicago Bears Acquire All-Pro Jeffery Simmons

The Chicago Bears have made a bold move by acquiring All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, along with a 2028 fifth-round pick. In exchange, the Bears have sent their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, along with a 2027 fourth-round pick, to the Titans.

Jeffery Simmons becomes the first defensive tackle since 1967 to be traded for multiple first-round picks, highlighting his significance. Drafted by the Titans with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Simmons has consistently ranked as one of the top defensive tackles.

In his NFL career, Simmons, a four-time Pro Bowler, has achieved 414 tackles and 46.5 sacks over 106 games. Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk expressed gratitude for Simmons’ contributions to the team and community, highlighting his off-field impact through the Give ‘Em A Reason Foundation.

“Jeff — thank you. For how you played, how you led, and how you represented our team,” said Strunk.

For the Bears, who currently stand at 5-2, Simmons’ arrival is set to bolster a defensive line that has been lacking. Despite a significant number of sacks this season, most have come from blitzing linebackers and defensive backs, rather than the defensive line itself.

Simmons led the Titans with four sacks and six tackles for loss. He adds value to a defensive front that has struggled since Dennis Allen took over as defensive coordinator in 2025, ranking near the bottom in the NFL in pressure rate.

In addition to acquiring Simmons, the Bears will also welcome back star defensive end Montez Sweat, who is returning from a two-game suspension.

With a current record of 5-2, the Bears sit second in the NFC North, trailing only the undefeated Minnesota Vikings at 6-0. By securing Simmons, the Bears aim to surpass the Vikings in the race for a home playoff game.

Simmons’ impact is expected to last beyond this season, having signed a three-year, $105.8 million contract extension to remain with the Bears through the 2030 season.

Meanwhile, the Titans, who are 1-6, have opted to part ways with one of their franchise cornerstones. Despite hopes of AFC South contention with new coach Robert Saleh and quarterback Cam Ward, the Titans have faced significant challenges this season.
