Clemson Tigers Prepare for Miami Showdown Amid Weather Concerns

The Clemson Tigers are once again under weather scrutiny as they gear up to host No. 4 Miami on Saturday night. The National Weather Service has issued a notice, reminding Clemson of the disruption potential due to inclement weather. Earlier in the season, Clemson experienced delays in three consecutive games due to adverse conditions.

The season opener for the Tigers faced a near two-hour delay before they suffered a 51-10 loss against Lane Kiffin’s LSU in Baton Rouge. In Week 2, Clemson encountered another weather delay, lasting almost two hours, before emerging victorious with a 22-7 win over Georgia Southern.

In the third week, play was postponed in the fourth quarter due to lightning; however, the Tigers used the break to stage a comeback, defeating North Carolina 28-20. They faced no weather interruptions in Week 4 in Berkeley, California, securing a 24-10 win over California, bringing their season record to 3-1.

This weekend, Clemson is set to play their first ranked opponent since LSU, and weather may play a significant role. According to Chapel Fowler of The State Newspaper, the university is keeping a close watch on the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Fowler reported on X, “Per Clemson: The school is ‘monitoring potential inclement weather’ for Saturday’s game vs. No. 4 Miami, as heavy rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast. There are NO changes to kickoff time as of now (still 7:30 p.m. Saturday), but if anything changes, they’ll announce it.”

In past games, delays offered mixed results. In Week 1, Clemson was disadvantaged, but during Week 3, North Carolina’s offense faltered after the delay, settling for a field goal despite a strong offensive push. No clear advantage is expected for Saturday’s game, given both Miami and Clemson’s experience with wet conditions.
