On Wednesday, workers dismantled the ‘Blue’ sculpture at the Kennedy Center. The action followed a directive reported on September 3, indicating that the sculpture’s removal disappointed many art enthusiasts.
Joel Shapiro’s ‘Blue’ was considered an inspiring piece of art. The decision to remove it came after Richard Grenell, appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the center, instructed the curator of visual arts and special programming to eliminate all outdoor artworks on the campus.
