Attorneys representing Jeffrey Weisheit have requested the cessation of his planned execution by lethal injection. Despite these appeals, Indiana Governor Mike Braun has not intervened to halt the execution, which is scheduled for early Thursday.
The impending execution has sparked concerns due to the source of the lethal injection drugs. The state acquired these drugs from a pharmacy currently under scrutiny by the state’s attorney general. Investigations focus on potential misconduct and safety violations associated with the pharmacy.
Opponents of capital punishment, alongside Weisheit’s legal team, have voiced objections. Their primary concern is the potential risks associated with using drugs obtained from a pharmacy facing serious allegations.
