Corporate DEI: A Political Perspective

The editorial dated July 18, titled “The rise and fall of a corporate fad,” has generated discussion on the impact of corporate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Our research, which the editorial references, aims to clarify some points on this topic.

We focused on examining the political dynamics that led to the emergence and decline of corporate DEI commitments. Our study did not investigate whether these DEI programs have negative effects on politics or market dynamics.

The association of political agendas with market practices has raised questions about the intersection of these two areas. However, the concentration of our research remained strictly on political factors influencing corporate adoption of DEI policies.
