The Dallas Wings are proving their status as contenders in the WNBA. Central to their success are Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, both former No. 1 picks. On Sunday, they led Dallas to a 89-76 win over the Toronto Tempo. Bueckers delivered 22 points, seven assists, and three rebounds.
Fudd added 17 points, alongside three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. She also achieved a significant milestone with her 20th career block. Yahoo Sports highlights that Fudd achieved this milestone quicker than any player in WNBA history.
Despite her accomplishments, Fudd focuses on team success. Dallas holds a 13-8 record, and she averages 13.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and one block per game. Her contributions come as a bench player, not in a starting position.
Although she missed the WNBA All-Star Game, teammates Bueckers and Jessica Sheppard were selected. Olivia Miles, another rookie, earned a starting spot, showing strong performance with averages of 18.5 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. Miles benefits from the absence of Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier, who is expected to return soon.
Fudd was drafted due to her solid performance and UConn background, coached by Geno Auriemma. Her chemistry with Bueckers enhances the Wings’ lineup.
