Dave Matthews, the lead singer of the Dave Matthews Band, criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during a concert for their involvement in a recent shooting incident. He described the agents as “a–holes” and expressed confusion about society’s tendency towards violence.
During the Friday concert, Matthews questioned the justification for violence. Referring to an incident in Houston, he mentioned Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a father and grandfather, who was wrongly targeted and killed by ICE. “They say he’s not even the guy they were looking for. Well, then don’t pull the trigger,” Matthews remarked.
He added, “I’m sorry if that language offends his family or community, but it’s just making me mad anyway.” Matthews dedicated a portion of the concert to Araujo’s memory.
An ICE spokesperson reported the incident involved the shooting of Araujo, a Mexican national, who allegedly attempted to run over officers with his vehicle. The officers opened fire in self-defense.
Matthews has a history of opposing ICE’s methods. Following another incident in Minneapolis, where activist Renee Good was killed during an altercation, Matthews shared his disapproval on social media. He criticized the agency for activities he believes terrorize communities and fracture families.
Expressing his concerns, Matthews questioned the role of taxpayer money in funding ICE operations, which he perceives as aggressive and harmful.
Fox News Digital reached out to ICE for comments on these incidents but had not received a response.
