The investigation into the tragic passing of actress Hayden Panettiere has taken a significant turn with the inclusion of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The DEA’s involvement comes as part of efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding her unexpected death.
Brian Hickerson, Panettiere’s on-and-off partner, addressed the matter publicly following the actress’s sudden demise. Through his lawyer Sloan Ellis, he emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation. “Hayden’s death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed. Police have confirmed there were no signs of foul play,” stated Ellis, as reported by TMZ.
The Greenville Police Department, involved in the case, has opted not to engage in media interviews. Instead, they provided a written statement detailing their procedure. The local police, in conjunction with the Coroner’s Office, are currently assessing the evidence to determine if a further criminal investigation is warranted.
New developments include Greenville police visiting a South Carolina home linked to Brian and Zach Hickerson, apparently to conduct a welfare check. This visit took place shortly after Panettiere’s death, drawing attention to the ongoing investigation.
Found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest on Sunday, Panettiere was in an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, when emergency services were called. Despite resuscitation attempts, the actress, known for her roles in “Nashville” and “Remember the Titans,” was pronounced dead at 36. Initial autopsy results showed no trauma indicating foul play.

Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach, were reportedly at the residence when Panettiere was discovered. After finding her unresponsive, they contacted emergency services and provided a bag of medications she had been taking.
Panettiere met Brian Hickerson in 2018, following her split from ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko. The couple’s relationship history includes legal issues, with Hickerson previously facing domestic violence charges. These matters were addressed in court, where he pleaded no contest to two charges, with other charges dropped as part of a plea agreement.
Just days before Panettiere’s untimely death, Hickerson appeared in Los Angeles court attempting to reduce past felony charges. His request was denied, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation into Panettiere’s death continues with input from various law enforcement agencies, as the public and her loved ones seek answers to this tragic event.
