Adam Hamilton, a Democratic candidate and Methodist pastor, is facing significant challenges in his campaign against Senator Roger Marshall in Kansas. The state has not seen a Democratic Senate victory since 1932, making this an uphill battle for Hamilton.
On Tuesday, Hamilton criticized incumbent Sen. Marshall after reports emerged that Marshall, during his years as an obstetrician-gynecologist, sued hundreds of patients over unpaid medical bills. This criticism comes as part of Hamilton’s efforts to highlight issues in Marshall’s past that may resonate with voters.
Sen. Marshall, a Republican, recently spoke to reporters following his visit to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, Kansas. This visit occurred on August 28, just days before the latest criticism from his opponent.
The election race is drawing attention as Hamilton seeks to break the longstanding Democratic drought in the Kansas Senate.
