A conflict at a Jimmy John’s restaurant in St. Louis ended with a 14-year-old girl shot in the leg and a restaurant employee facing multiple charges. The girl was shot near the intersection of Vandeventer and Laclede avenues around 6 p.m. on Saturday. She was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Court records identify the alleged shooter as Adam White, age 27. White, an employee of Jimmy John’s, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and child endangerment, among other offenses.
The incident started with a disagreement involving the girl’s mother and several individuals linked to the Jimmy John’s on Laclede. The situation escalated when the mother and her boyfriend arrived at the restaurant with the teenager. A verbal altercation with a former employee continued into the parking lot. The former employee, her boyfriend, and her daughter entered a vehicle, and as they drove away, White allegedly fired multiple shots at the car, hitting the girl in the leg.
Court documents allege that White left the scene but returned later and was taken into custody. After he was informed of his rights, White admitted to firing at the vehicle and said he left the gun at home. A judge has ordered that White be held without bond as he awaits trial.
Neither Jimmy John’s nor the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has commented on the incident. The connection between the girl’s mother and the restaurant remains under investigation.
