President Donald Trump suggested organizing a MAGA rally to celebrate the U.S.’s 250th anniversary. This idea emerged after numerous artists withdrew from a planned concert this summer.
Trump’s Proposal and Criticism
In a recent Truth Social post, Trump recommended canceling the Freedom 250 concerts scheduled for the Great American State Fair. He criticized a federal judge who ordered his name removed from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
“We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear,” Trump stated.
Trump compared his cancellation with the Kennedy Center to his proposed rally, attributing it to an alleged biased judicial decision.
Background on the Event
The Great American State Fair is part of America 250, a large-scale event on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It will stretch from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington Monument, set from June 25 to July 10, 2026.
Organizers had released a list of performers, but several, including Martina McBride and Bret Michaels, later opted out.
Trump’s Response to Artist Withdrawals
Trump proposed replacing the concert with a speech due to the artists’ withdrawals. He emphasized his popularity and patriotism in his post.
“I understand artists are getting ‘the yips,’ so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World… DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump declared.
Vanilla Ice expressed his excitement to participate, representing one of the retained performers.
Upcoming Speech and Rally
Trump announced he might deliver a speech and hold a rally on June 24 to launch the celebrations. He emphasized a desire to surround himself with positive and successful people.
A Freedom 250 announcement confirmed Trump’s speech will precede the Great American State Fair.
