Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka left practice on Wednesday and did not return. The specifics and seriousness of Egbuka’s injury remain uncertain. However, he managed to leave the field on his own despite visibly limping.
Mike Garafolo, an NFL Network insider present at the training session, noted, “Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned.” He further observed that Egbuka removed both cleats and later returned to watch the practice from the sideline.
Egbuka made a strong impression in his rookie year after being drafted as the Buccaneers’ No. 19 overall pick. As a former Ohio State standout, he quickly became a favored target for quarterback Baker Mayfield. Throughout the 17-game regular season, he recorded 63 catches, amassing 938 yards and scoring six touchdowns.
With the offseason departure of veteran wide receiver Mike Evans, Egbuka is set for a more pivotal role in the team’s lineup for 2026. The Buccaneers will commence their 2026 regular season with a Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals scheduled for September 13.
