In a detailed conversation with Kayleigh McEnany, FBI Director Kash Patel shared significant accomplishments under the Trump administration concerning crime and fraud prevention. He emphasized the Bureau’s efforts in reducing violent crime by 185%, rescuing over 7,000 children from predators, and dismantling millions of pedophile accounts. Patel also noted the successful resolutions of two hostage situations and the FBI’s efforts in combating over $8 billion in fraud.
The FBI celebrated the first anniversary of the Trump administration’s initiative to reduce crime in Washington, D.C. This event marked one year since President Trump launched the Safe and Beautiful initiative, which involved enhancing federal law enforcement presence with hundreds of federal agents and National Guard troops.
Patel praised Trump’s decision to increase federal resources to Washington, D.C., attributing the city’s enhanced safety to the combined efforts of the FBI, law enforcement partners, and the Justice Department. He remarked that Washington is now safer than it has been in decades.
Since the crime crackdown began, federal law enforcement agencies have achieved more than 6,000 arrests, nearly 2,000 drug seizures, and over 1,300 confiscations of illegal firearms. Homicides in D.C. dropped by 44% compared to the previous year.
The enforcement efforts resulted in 6,121 arrests, 237 search warrants, and the recovery of $252,592 in cash. Patel assured that the federal enforcement initiative will continue to ensure safety in the U.S. capital, allowing American citizens to live and work without fear of violent crime.
Patel declared, “The greatest country on earth should have a capital city reflecting its stature, where American taxpayers can live, visit, and petition their government without fear.”
The federal surge followed several violent incidents in Washington, including the killing of a 21-year-old congressional intern, the assault of a former staff member, and the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old in an MS-13 gang case. The deployment of the National Guard faced criticism from Democratic leaders, including then-Mayor Muriel Bowser, who voiced concerns about the legality of using the National Guard for policing. Despite critiques, Patel emphasized continued progress and efforts.
