The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concluded its investigation into the most extensive cyclosporiasis outbreak in U.S. history. The investigation revealed that the parasite was located in the environment where the suspected lettuce was cultivated in Mexico. The lettuce was processed at Taylor Farms de Mexico.
Despite these findings, the FDA could not ascertain the precise method of contamination. The parasite was found in a wastewater tank and a drainage ditch, yet the specific contamination path remains unknown.
