Federal Investigation Involves Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Sister

Recently, federal investigators questioned Sahra Noor, the older sister of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, as part of an immigration fraud investigation. Sources revealed that Noor spoke voluntarily with the investigators following a raid on Omar’s Washington, D.C., home by Homeland Security Investigations. The extent of Noor’s discussion with federal agents remains unclear.

Sahra Noor, like her sister, arrived in the United States as a child escaping Somalia’s civil war. Although now residing in Kenya, Noor was visiting the U.S. to promote her book, Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story. She canceled a Minnesota event on her book tour amid the raid’s aftermath and subsequent interview.

The book event, planned for October 15, 2026, at the University of Minnesota Rochester, was organized in collaboration with Garden Party Books and other local institutions. A representative cited a “family emergency” as the reason for its cancellation, now attributed to her meeting with federal authorities.

On October 12, 2026, Homeland Security Investigations raided Omar’s home, targeting allegations that Omar or her father falsified information on her citizenship application. If these allegations are true, Omar could face denaturalization, according to Tom Homan, a former border security official. During the raid, agents seized Omar’s personal items, including her phone, passport, and computer. Reports indicate subpoenas have been issued to about a dozen individuals connected to the case, including Omar’s family members.

Omar has remained out of public view since the raid, though her husband has been seen outside their residence. While Omar has not commented directly to the media, she criticized the raid on social media, accusing the Department of Homeland Security of political intimidation.

In an interview, Vice President JD Vance stated that the investigation remains focused on facts, drawing a distinction from previous administrations’ approaches. Fox News Digital reached out to Noor before publication but did not receive a response. Omar’s attorneys have yet to comment on the situation.
