Federal Investigation Underway After Fatal Cargo Plane Crash in Miami

Federal investigators are currently in South Florida to determine the cause behind a deadly event involving an Amazon cargo plane at Miami International Airport. This incident occurred on Sunday afternoon and has captured the attention of the nation.

Witnesses have started to recount their experiences of the crash. Grace Mercado shared her unsettling experience while in a vehicle with her partner. Her partner pointed out a noise that seemed ominously familiar. “We hear a noise,” Mercado recalled, “And he goes, ‘Oh my goodness. Is that a plane crash?'” She said she raised her gaze from her cell phone just in time to see the plane overshoot the runway and come to a stop across the Miami-Dade street, emitting a deafening noise she could hardly describe.

Mercado noted, “It was extremely loud. It wasn’t anything that I’ve ever heard before. It was like a shake.” Her surprise was compounded by seeing the plane enveloped in smoke, likening the scene to a cinematic spectacle. “The plane was up in smoke,” she added, “It was just, it was like something from a movie. It was crazy.”

No first responders were initially visible, but they arrived almost instantaneously. “There weren’t any ambulances or anything,” Mercado said, “But they ended up there in under a minute. It was absolutely insane.”

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, more than 60 units and approximately 200 personnel responded. The severity of the crash required quick action, leading to the deaths of five individuals and injuries to five others. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue expressed their condolences with a statement: “Our hearts are with the victims and their families following Sunday’s tragic cargo plane crash. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and are keeping everyone who was injured in our thoughts and prayers.”

Mercado described the scene further, saying she saw no movement near the crashed plane, only smoke. “It’s something you don’t see in real life,” she mentioned in disbelief, describing it as surreal.

Agencies including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are now tasked with investigating the reasons behind why the aircraft left the runway. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
