A federal judge in Rhode Island directed the administration to resume processing immigration applications for individuals from countries affected by a previous ban. This action followed the shooting of two National Guard troops last year.
On Thursday, the judge criticized the Trump administration for not promptly adhering to his prior decision. Last week, he had instructed the government to end its indefinite suspension of asylum decisions and resume processing immigration for several countries.
The need for swift compliance was emphasized by the judge, highlighting the urgency in addressing the paused immigration procedures. The issue involves a substantial number of individuals whose applications have remained in limbo due to the halted processes.
