Five men in Florida face serious charges following an alleged robbery where a vape pen was taken. The incident occurred on a Sunday night in Winter Haven, authorities reported.
Details of the Robbery
A victim was walking home from work when a pickup truck approached. Five men exited the vehicle and demanded the items in the victim’s pockets. The victim stated he only had a cellphone and a vape pen.
One suspect showed a gun in his waistband, threatening the victim. They eventually took the vape pen, valued around $30, but the victim refused to part with his cellphone, saying it was tracked. The suspects left in the truck.
Police Actions and Arrests
Authorities found the truck at a residence with men matching the suspects’ descriptions nearby. Upon police arrival, the men attempted to hide but were later detained.
The suspects were identified as Damarius Jamel Taylor, Tayshawn Williams, Javon Prince Jackson-Roby, Martice Spears Jr., and Deshawn Antwon Lampkin. They face charges of robbery with a weapon and petit theft. Taylor had an outstanding warrant in Highlands County.
Additional Details
A 17-year-old girl was also present during the robbery. She accompanied her boyfriend and his friends shopping before the incident. She claimed not to witness the altercation but heard shouting. She later saw a man return with a green vape pen.
Two 17-year-old girls were charged with resisting arrest. One allegedly gave a false birth date, while another did not allow police entry into the home.
