Nicole Curtis, the former host of HGTV’s Rehab Addict, is facing a lawsuit from the City of Detroit. Curtis and her company, Detroit Renovations LLC, are accused of not maintaining and restoring a blighted house in Detroit.
The lawsuit claims the property remains a public nuisance, with several code violations despite a 2021 court order mandating its renovation. Curtis gained ownership of the house following a legal battle with the Detroit Land Bank Authority. Wayne County Circuit Judge Timothy Kenny declared the home a danger and required its refurbishment.
The city has cited Curtis for not repairing or replacing damaged exterior features, along with inadequate roof and gutter repairs, among other issues. The city asserts that the property has deteriorated further due to lack of compliance.
Fox News Digital reached out to Curtis, but she has not responded immediately.
“What the f— is that that I just said? Nick, you gotta, can you kill that?” Curtis said after realizing her slip.
Curtis faced additional controversy when a video showed her using a racial slur on the set of Rehab Addict. This incident led to HGTV canceling the series permanently. The network pulled the show from all platforms due to Curtis’ remarks, which it found hurtful and misaligned with its values.
The video surfaced online on February 11, coinciding with the show’s planned return after a hiatus. Curtis had previously been fired in February for the same reason.
Curtis apologized for her comments, expressing regret. She addressed the incident further on The Breakfast Club show, where she stated she was open to discussing what happened.
During the interview, hosts Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy questioned Curtis about her language. Curtis admitted she often used made-up terms like “fart digger” and “fart knocker,” in place of swearing.
