Hannah Hirsh, who spent five years in the sex industry, shares her journey of transformation after discovering her faith. Her experiences in this world were marked by darkness, addiction, and challenges, leading her to advocate for other women.
“During that time, I witnessed a lot of addiction,” Hirsh shared in an interview. “I even struggled with addiction myself. You encounter drugs, alcohol, and even trafficking. Many women walk into clubs thinking they can make quick money, but they don’t realize the world they’re entering or the consequences it brings.”
Society glamorizes this lifestyle, but if you’ve lived it, you know true happiness is absent within it,
Hirsh explained. Her involvement in the sex industry ended in 2020 when the pandemic forced clubs in her area to close, leading her to a moment of reflection.
My heart was drawn away from that line of work as I sat in silence with God,
she said. Hirsh emphasizes the contrast between material desires and spiritual fulfillment, stating “True riches are found in God; the goal is eternal life.”
Her observations highlight the struggles many women face in the industry. Most women are on drugs or drinking daily to numb themselves,
she reported, adding that the work is “belittling, not empowering.”
Hirsh founded “Kept by Grace Ministry” to support women in similar situations. She regularly visits strip clubs to engage with women, sharing messages of hope and faith.
When I visit a strip club, I tell the women about God’s message—planting the seed that God will make grow,
Hirsh explained. In her view, no one in the industry is beyond redemption.
She concludes with a call to fellow Christians, reminding them of the inclusivity of God’s love: “Jesus sat with those deemed dirty by society. No one is too far gone for God’s redemption.”
