Granite State Job Market Shows Signs of Recovery in 2026

In 2025, small businesses with fewer than 20 employees added 3,663 new jobs. This represented a significant 79% of the total net private sector job growth during that year.

The New Hampshire Bulletin, an independent nonprofit organization, aims to keep Granite State residents informed about vital issues. As reported, the state labor market began showing recovery signs in 2026 following the decline in 2025.

Preliminary data suggest that nonfarm employment in New Hampshire increased by 1.1% between January and July 2026. Despite this improvement, employment levels remained below what they were before the 2025 downturn.
