High School Lacrosse Player Dies After Tragic Incident

A promising lacrosse athlete from Washington lost his life following a tragic accident during a lacrosse game. Eliot Abramson, a 17-year-old player from Mercer Island High School near Seattle, was participating in a college recruiting event on June 1 when the incident occurred.

Abramson, a 6-foot-2 sophomore deeply involved in Mercer Island lacrosse since elementary school, was struck by a lacrosse ball at the base of his neck. The ball slipped underneath the back edge of his helmet, leading to severe injuries.

Witnesses saw Abramson lose consciousness and collapse on the field. He was swiftly taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he underwent emergency surgery and spent nearly a week in intensive care. Unfortunately, he passed away on June 7, as confirmed by school officials and family members.

Jessica Abramson-Lott, his mother, paid tribute to her son on social media, stating that Eliot is now reunited with his biological father, Josef Abramson, who died when Eliot was three years old. Her message expressed hopes that Eliot is at peace and continues to spread joy with those he joins.

This is not the first time such a tragedy has struck within a year. Another high school lacrosse player, 16-year-old Dylan Veselic from Ohio, died last year from a similar injury.
