Hilary Swank has shared a surprising announcement with her fans: she is expecting her third child at the age of 52. This news comes after she had twins at 48. The ‘Million Dollar Baby’ actress and her family revealed their joy through a social media video where they danced with glowsticks attached to their bodies. The video concluded with Swank showcasing her baby bump.
Alongside the video, Swank captioned, ‘A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December.’ Three years ago, Swank and her husband, Philip Schneider, welcomed twins, daughter Aya and son Ohm. Both Swank and Schneider are 52 years old.
Dr. Kameelah Phillips, an OB-GYN, commented on the rarity of being pregnant at 52. She noted it entails significant medical implications. ‘Most women in this age range are entering menopause,’ Phillips stated. ‘However, through the process of IVF, even if ovaries are less active, the uterus can be prepared to support a pregnancy.’
Phillips explained that Swank is likely under the care of a specialized high-risk team. She highlighted potential medical concerns, including gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, diabetes, and a higher likelihood of C-section.
Two years prior, Swank spoke on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ about becoming a mother in her later years. ‘For me, being an older parent allows me to focus fully on motherhood without distraction,’ Swank shared.
