The advocacy group Protect Our Care is monitoring the impact of GOP cuts on health care institutions. They are observing closures and service cuts across hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes that are linked to the GOP’s megabill passed last summer.
We have identified over 400 hospitals at risk of closure or service reductions. More than 80 hospital units, including maternity and pediatric services, have already closed,

Rural hospitals often operate with slim margins and depend heavily on Medicaid. The same vulnerability affects urban safety-net hospitals due to their Medicaid-dependent patient base. The GOP bill slashed over $1 trillion from Medicaid, fueling political attacks as the midterm elections approach.
