Caitlin Clark delivered an impressive performance, scoring 37 points, while Kelsey Mitchell contributed 30 points to lead the Indiana Fever to a 113-90 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday night.
Clark set a career-high by making eight of the Fever’s franchise-record 18 three-pointers. Additionally, she provided 10 assists, underscoring her pivotal role in the game. This win marked the end of the Fever’s challenging 3-2 trip, having played three games in four nights and previously facing two consecutive losses.
For Chicago, Natasha Cloud scored 16 points and had seven assists. Azura Stevens added 14 points and eight rebounds. Despite recent success with three consecutive wins, the Sky were eliminated from playoff contention after the loss and Washington’s triumph on the same night.
Indiana played the match without center Aliyah Boston, due to a right leg injury. In her previous game, Boston had recorded 22 points and six assists during the Fever’s 109-102 loss at New York.
The Fever established control with a decisive 13-2 run, building a 71-60 lead during the third quarter. The run featured a three-pointer by Clark, followed by Mitchell’s eight straight points, with Clark ending it with a jumper. Lexie Hull’s reverse layup extended Indiana’s margin to 97-82, as Hull tallied 14 points in total. Makayla Timpson added 12 points for the Fever.
This match was the first encounter since Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham faced a hard foul by DiJonai Carrington during the Fever’s 90-86 victory on August 8. Cunningham scored three points in over 11 minutes of play, whereas Carrington secured seven points across 18 minutes for the Sky.
In addition to the game’s action, former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom attended but was ejected in the third quarter following a confrontation with Cloud. Freedom, alongside Royce White, another former NBA player, seeks eligibility for the WNBA draft, asserting their identification as women.
Looking ahead, the Indiana Fever will host the Connecticut Sun on Friday night, while the Chicago Sky will visit Connecticut on Tuesday night.
