White has stirred controversy by benching key players Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston during significant moments. In a recent 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire, White’s decisions sparked debate.
Critics questioned why White removed Clark and Boston with a four-point lead only three minutes into the first quarter. This move allowed Portland to initiate a 13-2 run, and the Fever soon found themselves trailing by seven. White explained that Boston is under a minutes restriction. She said to the Indy Star, “That’s typically around the same time we’ve taken Caitlin out before.”
Despite her explanation, many fans disagreed with White’s substitution plan. Some accused White of undermining Clark’s confidence and performance. Others took to social media, demanding White’s dismissal as coach.
“White is killing CC’s confidence and swagger,” one fan expressed online.
