The state of Tennessee is facing challenges with lethal injection procedures. This year marks the second instance of these issues arising.
Christa Pike became known when, at 18, she confessed to a brutal crime. In 1995, she, along with two teenage friends, lured Colleen Slemmer into a wooded area in Knoxville. The plan turned gruesome, reportedly involving torture. A pentagram was carved into Slemmer’s chest, and her head was smashed with asphalt.
Law enforcement later found a piece of Slemmer’s skull in Pike’s coat pocket. This evidence contributed to her infamous reputation and subsequent conviction.
