Jake Lang, a right-wing figure previously linked to the January 6 Capitol unrest, faces a new legal issue. Although pardoned by former President Trump for his past involvement, Lang was recently arrested in Dallas, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the 31-year-old was apprehended after disembarking from a flight, charged with a third-degree felony for making terroristic threats. He is now in the Dallas County Jail awaiting further proceedings.
Lang’s latest legal trouble follows his presence outside the Collin County courthouse during the trial of Karmelo Anthony. A jury convicted Anthony of murder for the April 2025 killing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a track meet in Frisco. Anthony received a 35-year prison sentence. Reports allege Lang threatened to shoot Anthony if the verdict fell short of murder.
During the trial, Lang displayed a sign reading “White Lives Matter” with Metcalf’s photo outside the courthouse. His activities caught attention, and authorities swiftly responded. Lang, allegedly calling from jail in a video, contends his arrest is an attempt to silence a First Amendment protester.
The arrest marks another confrontation with law enforcement for Lang, following past charges. Recently, police in Frisco detained him for trespassing. Earlier this year, authorities in St. Paul, Minnesota accused him of vandalizing a sculpture demanding the prosecution of ICE. His trial for the Minnesota incident is set for next month.
Lang’s involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot included charges of assault and civil disorder. While awaiting trial, he received a presidential pardon, expunging his federal record along with others involved in the event.
Andrew Anthony, Karmelo Anthony’s father, expressed slight relief with Lang’s arrest but noted ongoing challenges due to persisting racial threats. The family maintains Karmelo acted in self-defense during the incident. The trial drew significant public attention, with daily protests outside the courthouse from supporters and detractors alike.
Lang was instrumental in organizing a protest supporting Metcalf shortly after the fatal stabbing. Flyers for the event featured Metcalf with a banner promoting white American protection. Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, consistently urges the public to avoid inflaming racial tensions, stressing forgiveness toward Anthony.
