Jerry Rice, a Hall of Famer of the NFL, addressed a heckler on Thursday while participating in the American Century Championship. The incident occurred at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe. Competing alongside notable personalities like Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley, and Tony Romo, Rice made an impression both on and off the course.
At 63, the former San Francisco 49ers star was partway through his round. Completing in a respectable 42nd place among 90 players, he remained competitive. However, his round was interrupted in a tense moment when a spectator yelled, “Fore!” after one of his tee shots.
The golfer, annoyed by the distraction, turned towards the crowd, shouting, “Hey! Yo! Hey! Hey!” Shortly after, Rice charged into the spectators, golf club in hand, demanding, “Which one? Which one?!” as he approached.
Thanks to his athletic prowess, Rice quickly closed in on the suspected heckler, who was identified by a nearby fan. The person shouted, “Green and blue!”, pointing out the individual responsible.
The confrontation ended without further incident, and Rice returned to the tee box amid applause from the crowd. This wasn’t the first heated moment for Rice at the tournament as a similar situation unfolded in the previous year’s championship.
One onlooker humorously noted, “Don’t poke the bear!” capturing the sentiment of the day. Rice continued to play, sharing lighter moments with fellow participants such as Annika Sorenstam.
