Jordan Battle’s Media Mishap Reveals Bengals Strategy

Jordan Battle, a safety with the Cincinnati Bengals, has raised eyebrows with a recent disclosure. Battle let slip a strategic detail about Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Malik Willis. This revelation could impact the upcoming game between the Bengals and Dolphins.

During a press briefing, Battle shared that the Bengals noticed a tell in Willis’ throwing motion. “He has a slight tap before every throw,” Battle explained. He suggested this could help the Bengals anticipate Willis’ passes.

He likes to tap the ball before he throws it, or he takes his hand off, and that gives the read to break, Battle told reporters.

The Bengals’ coaches likely did not appreciate Battle’s openness. On the other hand, the Dolphins took note. Miami head coach Jeff Hafley mentioned that tapping is common among quarterbacks. However, he didn’t mind the extra insight.

Any opponent that wants to share our tendencies with us, we’ll take any time, Hafley stated to the media.

Social media users were quick to criticize Battle for the slip. Fans questioned why he would disclose such information publicly. Some even suggested he might as well reveal other strategic details.

Battle, drafted by the Bengals in 2023, is in his fourth season. He has yet to miss a game in his NFL career. This season, he boasts one interception and 25 tackles. Despite recent struggles, the Bengals aim to use Willis’ tell to their advantage against the winless Dolphins.

The Bengals face the Dolphins on the road at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
