Josh Duhamel Urges Minnesotans to Vote in Midterms

Josh Duhamel is encouraging Minnesotans to participate in the upcoming elections through a video shared on Instagram. The actor expressed his message as a public service announcement to the residents of Minnesota, emphasizing the importance of voting in what he calls ‘God’s country.’ Duhamel stated, ‘I just wanted to take a second to remind you that the midterms are coming up. This is such an important time. We have to get out there. We have to vote. Every single person.’

Though he refrained from endorsing any candidate, he stressed voting as a ‘job as an American citizen’ and a ‘sacred duty.’ He further encouraged a 100% voter turnout, adding, ‘It is a blessing that we get to get out there and pick who makes decisions for us. So please, everybody, let’s get 100 percent turnout.’

Josh Duhamel mentioned his fondness for Minnesota, describing it as his second favorite state after North Dakota, and urged people to vote because the state is ‘worth saving.’

While Duhamel didn’t specify any preferences, some fans interpreted his comments as a call to vote Republican, citing his reference to saving the state. Others responded with calls to vote Democrat, highlighting a divide in interpretations.

Duhamel, known for his role in ‘Ransom Canyon,’ relocated from California to North Dakota and sold his Los Angeles home. He cherishes his time in Minnesota, describing it as a retreat to ‘time off the grid.’ Duhamel noted the benefits of stepping away from modern amenities and embracing the basics. He said in September 2025, ‘I’d spent too much time sort of luxuriating in the amenities of the modern world, and getting out there was really good.’

The actor lives in his cabin with his wife, Audra Mari, and their 2-year-old son, Shepherd. His older son Axl, whom he shares with his ex-wife Fergie, also enjoys time there. Duhamel enjoys the peacefulness of his Midwest home, focusing on simple activities with his family such as pulling kids on a tube or cooking.

Duhamel has spent 15 years building the cabin and values the opportunity to connect with his family, free from distractions. He shared with Parade in April 2025 how this has allowed his older son to enjoy the outdoors over being glued to an iPad. ‘It’s really important to me that they have this. It’s not just about having all the amenities,’ he said. ‘It’s really about family. It’s about legacy.’
