Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor Navigate Teammate Challenges

Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor are key figures for the New York Mets. Originally expected to lead the team to major success, the Mets instead find themselves struggling.

Lindor joined the Mets in 2021 through a trade and agreed to a 10-year, $341 million contract extension. This move was significant for new owner Steve Cohen, indicating a shift in the team’s management.

Soto entered the Mets’ lineup later on with a notable 15-year, $765 million deal. Reports suggested tension between Soto and Lindor during their first year as teammates, which stretched into the current season. Some believe that Soto’s comprehensive contract may have sparked a rivalry between the two players.

The situation seemed to calm down until this week when Cohen practically verified the earlier rumors. However, he mentioned that the relationship between Soto and Lindor had improved over time.

“I think that’s a story from last year. I believe these guys are getting along much better now,” Cohen commented to the New York Post.

Inquiries about their relationship continued, with Soto making an analogy, “When you meet someone, you don’t become close immediately.” Soto confirmed there were no existing problems, despite persistent speculation.

Lindor expressed that time had allowed their relationship to develop, stating, “We’ve been teammates for two years now. It’s only natural for our relationship to grow. I have great respect for him.”

There were also claims the players’ lockers were relocated apart this season. Fans noticed a lack of warmth between them on Opening Day. Although reports emerged of tough discussions between the two, Lindor dismissed these, saying, “We communicate daily about various topics. Our main focus is succeeding as a team.”

Soto and Lindor have played just 15 games together this season due to injuries. They are expected to continue as teammates until 2032.
