The Kansas City Chiefs experienced their first defeat of the 2026 NFL season on Sunday. They lost to the Seattle Seahawks, the current Super Bowl champions, in a primetime game during Week 7 at Lumen Field.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense struggled, managing only a field goal in the 20-3 loss. This performance was a stark contrast to their success in the previous five victories. Mahomes threw for 165 yards, marking his lowest of the season, along with an interception.
Kenneth Walker III, a standout in his first season with the Chiefs, recorded just 36 rushing yards in this game. The team aims to bounce back as they face the Denver Broncos in their Week 8 match.
Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy candidly addressed the team’s performance in an interview on Thursday. “We got our [expletive] kicked as a coaching staff, as a team, and as a unit,” said Bieniemy, as reported by team insider Charles Goldman. “But we’re onto the Denver Broncos.”
The upcoming game against the Broncos, set for Sunday, presents an opportunity for the Chiefs to regain their momentum. In their season-opening win against the Broncos in Week 1, Mahomes achieved 182 passing yards and two touchdowns. Walker contributed significantly with 173 rushing yards and a touchdown.
This anticipated rematch is scheduled to begin at 4:25 p.m. ET.
